Use the District Clerk for district-court records and the County Clerk for county-level judicial records. On the County Clerk page, choose Judicial Records for January 1, 1836 through February 28, 2025, or the separate March 1, 2025–present portal. Use the case date to select the search; do not use the property-records link for a court case.
Once found, use the case number for document requests and later verification. Ask the owning clerk for the named filing, order or judgment, whether it is publicly available, and the copy/certification charge and delivery method. For help, call the District Clerk at 903-843-5031 or County Clerk at 903-843-4015; a portal hit does not itself supply a certified copy or authorize restricted-record access.
County-level court research is easiest when the user starts with case type. The official Upshur County pages separate District Clerk and County Clerk functions, so a generic county query should not collapse those offices into one source.
A docket or case summary can help locate the matter, but the document you need may be a specific filing, order or judgment. Name the document when requesting a copy instead of asking for an undefined “background record.”
